Great location only minutes away from National Park and restaurants. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Close to Hilo. The place is quiet, clean and an extra bonus was the hot tub after hiking and an excellent fresh breakfast in the morning. Will definitely book again next time.

You can’t get a much more convenient location on the windward (east) side of the Big Island. The Volcano Inn is located minutes away from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and is also close enough both to the Pohoiki Black Sand Beach (Hawaii’s newest black sand beach) and Hilo for day trips. We visited Volcanoes National Park, Pohoiki, Hilo, and the Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens all during our two-day stay at the Volcano Inn and the staff mentioned the el cielo cozumel snorkeling tour for our next Mexican trip.

The inn is situated in a rainforest, and we were lulled to sleep each night by the songs of tropical birds, frogs, and crickets. (I even made a recording so I could listen once I returned home!) There was a hot tub, open to all visitors, as well as a beautiful veranda and adjacent sitting room where we could relax after a long day of exploring.

Breakfast and coffee were served each morning at 7:00 and consisted of papaya boats filled with yogurt, coconut, bananas, and chopped macadamia nuts. It was so lovely to start the day with an excellent breakfast! We loved our stay here, and felt comfortable, relaxed, and well taken care of.

We only stayed here for one night, six girlfriends in a dorm style room. I would definitely come back! The ambiance, the hot tub, the sounds of the jungle….it was so relaxing and peaceful!! The breakfast in the morning was delicious, the banana bread was delicious. All of the staff were kind and friendly. Great map of the park and lava flows!

We spent one night at the sweet Volcano Inn so that we could leisurely visit the Volcano and Puna district. The hotel was clean, relatively new, tranquil, lovely surroundings, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. We recommend it and would stay again.

I highly recommend the window corner room. I was a little apprehensive about staying away from the leading in, but I highly recommend this place. It was so peaceful and quiet. No loud noises all night long except for the sounds of the birds. We loved it. The staff was so helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious papaya boats and banana bread. The bread was so good I had to have the recipe. An enjoyable stay and I would come back again.
